Halloween Night

We hung out with Cliff's family in Norwalk for Halloween. We ate a yummy dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's house and then the kids went Trick-or-Treating. Cliff wanted to go around his old neighborhood to show off his two little girls. Lacy did good. It was a chilly night and she stayed in her stroller for most of the time.

My favorite parts of the evening were:
1. While everyone was eating dinner, Lacy decided to 'practice' Trick-or-Treating and took multiple handfuls of candy from the bowls that Grandma had set out to give away and put them into her bucket.
2. After Trick-or-Treating, we had cake at Grandma's house. We stopped paying attention to Lacy for a minute. Next thing, Kortney says "Lacy NOO!". I look up and Lacy is licking the big kitchen knife that was used to cut the cake. Blade side in her mouth of course. (Thanks for saving our child Kortney.)
3. Lacy of course didn't eat much of the yummy dinner that was prepared, so her dinner mostly consisted of Skittles. Subsequently, she was on quite a sugar high. Running around. Yelling. Talking. She dumped her bucket of candy out onto the floor to check out the goods. Then Aunt LuAnn suggested she roll around in it. And Lacy did. What a goober!

Church Trunk or Treat

Saturday night, our church had a Halloween party. I was able to finish Lacy's costume, with the help of a friend (thanks Heather) just hours before the bash. It turned out pretty cute, I think! Anjali dressed up as Tinkerbell but slept through most of the festivities. Cliff's cousins came with us and decided to do a Peter Pan theme. We have Captain Hook, Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, and John (you can't really see Cliff's top hat against the night sky)...and Cinderella.

Lacy did a great job Trick-or-Treating. She said "Trick-or-Treat" a few times, but she always knew to shove her bucket up to the person handing out candy whether she said it or not. After a half hour or so, her bucket was getting kind of heavy. So Lacy and Cliff and his cousins, Tori and Kortney, decided to play Peter Pan. They sword fought and danced and Lacy sang "We're Following the Leader." Lacy eventually got to wear Capt. Hook's eyepatch, hook and hold the sword too and Tori dubbed her "Pirella". She even said "AAARGH". Good Times!

Lacy and Daddy Fun Time

Now that Cliff's officially on vacation he's been helping out a lot by doing fun things with Lacy. Up until today, they've been running errands and going to the store, while I stay at home and Anjali re-familiarizes me with the delights of spit up and mustard poop. Who would've thought that I would be jealous of their menial trips to the grocery store and multiple runs to Target ;)

But today, to make me really jealous, they went to Disneyland. Usually, our Disneyland trips are at night and the shows are over with. It was a special treat for Lacy to go during the day and meet some of her favorite characters. They saw the "Woody's Halloween Round Up" show and checked out the new "Princess Faire" where Lacy learned how to dance and curtsy like a princess. Her face lit up when she got to see Cinderella and Belle up close! I wish I could have seen it! On the way out they jumped in line to take a picture with Ariel. She was in such awe, she wanted to just stand contentedly in the shade watching all the other kids taking pictures with "Mermo."

It was hot for mid-October, like 80's, so Lacy was wiped out by the time she came home. She took a nice long nap.

Lacy has been such a good girl this last week. The first 2 or 3 days with Anjali home were tough--lots of tantrums. But Lacy has adapted quickly and has just been heaven sent! We are so blessed to have such a sweet and helpful little girl like her. She deserves all the fun things that she gets to do with Daddy this week.

What big sister Lacy's been up to...

Since we've been home a lot with a new little baby, we've been catching up on our netflix movies. Now in order for us to get through a movie with as few interuptions as possible, Anjali should be sleeping (like a little angel) and Lacy must be distracted. So we put on one of Lacy's movies in another room and leave her with a bunch of toys while we watch our movie in the living room.

First time we did this, we noticed that it was unusually quiet and went searching for our mischevious toddler. We found her upstairs putting on mommy's makeup.

A few days later, we made a second attempt at watching a movie. Half way into the movie, we heard weird clinking noises and found Lacy with a hair brush in each hand and combing her hair and making faces at herself in the mirror. She entertained herself in this manner for over an hour! Having a newborn around makes me realize everyday that she's such a big girl!

Anjali's First Bath

Welcome Anjali Jane!

On Monday night, October 16th, at 11:55PM we welcomed Anjali Jane into the world! She was 7lbs 2 oz. and 20 inches long. Not bad for two weeks early! My labor was shorter (9 hours as opposed to Lacy's 40) but to make things interesting, Anjali came out sunny-side up. (OUCH!) I am recovering well. We came home about 7:30PM Tuesday night.

Anjali is a hungry little girl. She has dark brown hair and dark eyes--a contrast to Lacy's blonde hair and blue eyes!

Cliff's been a HUGE help--with the labor/delivery and taking care of the house and now 3 girls at home! Its times like these that make me remember why I married him, hehe. Just kidding, I love you Cliff!

Lacy can't decide how she feels. She has been extra sensitive. More tantrums and more dramatic tantrums too. Last night when she woke up in the middle of the night she came into our bedroom. Soon afterwards, Anjali started to wake up and cry a little and Lacy looked around bewildered and said "baby?!" with a tone that said 'there's still a baby here?!'

When Lacy first met Anjali at the hospital, Wallace and Gromit was on the tv. We pushed Anjali up to Lacy's lap and Lacy nicely put her hands on the baby but would not stop watching the tv. But by the end of the visit, she tickled her little sister's feet (of course the tv was off then).

Surprise Shower

On Monday, Cliff's work threw me a surprise shower. It was so nice--such a generous gesture. Lacy was a little ornery, that is until she got a piece of cake. Just to show what a little diva she is, she was fussing and kept running over to the cake while we were opening presents. We had to stop opening presents and ask Angie to slice a piece of cake just for Lacy so we could continue to open presents without her interruptions! We got great gifts for the new baby and Lacy even got a cool Dora book.

My prenatal appts are on the first floor of Cliff's bldg. So I usually try to schedule them right before lunch time so Lacy and I can go upstairs to visit Cliff and his coworkers. Cliff had mentioned the night before for me to bring my new camera so he could take pictures of Lacy stealing stickers and I didn't even think twice about it. Before we left for my appt, I made sure Lacy was dressed cute and her hair was done...and ran out of time to make myself 'beautiful' But I didn't think it mattered since everyone always looks at Lacy and doesn't pay much attention to me. So that added to the surprise--walking in with no make-up and my hair still wet from my shower. C'est la vie! Still I am very grateful to everyone at Cliff's office who participated. Thanks!

Big Bear Weekend

On Friday afternoon Cliff finished his 2-day USMLE exam and then we left for Big Bear to see Grandpa Clinton and recuperate after the stress of the test. Lacy was quick to warm up to Grandpa Clinton and after about 5 minutes walked around the house like she owned the place. Saturday morning, she played in the backyard with the neighbor's dogs. Watched the squirrels and the birds eat and run around the porch. She teased the tortoises--because she was scared of them. We headed into the village for lunch and fudge from the North Pole. We even made another attempt at the zoo (the Big Bear Zoo). Unfortunately, all that fresh mountain air and playing wiped her out by the time we got to the zoo. So the grown-ups walked around pushing the stroller and admiring the animals. As we were out the door, leaving the zoo, Lacy decided to wake up and so we turned around and had another go at the zoo. Lacy was very entertained and had lots of fun. The first animals we visited were the deer. They licked her hand through the fence. So afterwards, she kept trying to stick her hand through the fence to get the other animals to lick her hand. Fortunately, the grizzly bears, the mountain lions, and the snow leopards cages were built to keep out little hands. We came back to the house and watched movies while Lacy played with her dolls. Sunday we went to church with Grandpa and had an early dinner before we headed home. We had a great time with Grandpa Clinton and wish we saw him more often!

Halmony's Bday

Halmony (my mom) took the day off work for her birthday so she could hang out with Lacy--a very affordable and reasonable gift on our behalf I think. We decided to check out the local Santa Ana Zoo. During the 5 minute car ride to the zoo, Halmony got out the princess figurines which she keeps stashed in her purse to spoil our little lady with. Little did we know, that those princesses would upstage the zoo and all of its cool animals. This is Lacy looking at the Emus and Llamas. This one is in front of the Bald Eagle.
After the zoo, we went home to nap and then went to the Rainforest Cafe for dinner. We came back home for cake. It was a very fun day!
