SD Zoo

I convinced Cliff to take us down to San Diego for a few days. I wanted to make sure we got our money's worth on our annual passes from last spring break. We got a good deal at the Paradise Resort--but I wouldn't stay there again. We got more bang for our buck at the Hyatt last year. I would love some recommendations on good eats for the next time we go down there. Anyone?...The concierge has been hit or miss both trips, but mostly miss :/

We went to the zoo two days in a row. Wesley was so cute at the zoo. He got so excited every time he spotted an animal. Anjali was more interested in snacks. Lacy was interested, but became more excited when our friends joined us on day two.

As always seems to be the case for us, we had some graphic demonstrations performed by a little monkey and a couple of hippos. It was fun trying to explain what was happening to the kids. The orangutans were a big hit--the kids got some good face time with one of them too.

Oh how I love San Diego. Such a fun quick easy vacation with the kiddos.

Making a House a Home

Cliff had the week off and decided that what he'd like most to do is paint the master bed and bath. (seriously--I wanted to go on vacation. he wanted to stay home and paint.)

I couldn't really help, you know--in my delicate condition so we hired some cheap labor.

Soon we'll be 6.

Baby #4 is due July 23. Sex is still unknown. I hope it's a boy!

Fast Forward to 2010

I know I'm way behind. But rather than being weighed down by how much catch up I have to do, I'm just going to cut my losses and move forward for now. I will work on the lost 5 months at my own pace....but here's the short version:

We went to the OC Fair, finished the summer with trips to the beach and soccer games. We put an offer in on a house--it was accepted. Anj started preschool. Lacy started pre-K. Cliff, Leah and Lacy ran the Disney 5k. We moved into our new house. Anj got a root canal. Anj turned 3. Halloween. Thanksgiving. Lacy turned 5. Leah's birthday. Christmas. Our wedding anniversary. New Years.

I hope this can somewhat justify why I've been unable to update ;)

Soccer Update

As it turns out, Lacy is NOT a fan of soccer.
Her favorite part is water break.

Another mom on the team said that her daughter was like Lacy last season. They called her a vapor, because she always trailed far behind the team as they chased the ball. But I wouldn't even give Lacy that much credit. She plants herself on the field and just spaces out. Its cute but also very frustrating. Cliff and I scream the whole time. "Run Lacy! Kick the ball! Lacy, where's the ball?! Help your team!" But that girl...she drums to her own beat. She twirls her hair or WALKS toward the ball on a rare occasion.

Maybe she's tired. Her Tuesday games are right after beach day....

Oh well, we tried!

Black-toothed Anjali

I took the kids swimming at Granny's house yesterday and they had a blast. Afterward, I took all 3 kids in the shower with me for a quick rinse. There was fighting and yelling and to make a long story short, Anj slipped and landed on her teeth. There was lots of blood, three jammed teeth and one of them was REALLY loose.

The good thing is that this incident happened at Granny's house--because there were other people around to occupy my kids while I paged the emergency dentist and figured out what to do. (look at me the optimist! ;)

After waiting an hour, the pediatric dentist never called back (apparently their pager was broken, grrr). I opted to contact our (mine and Cliff's) dentist. She told me to go in first thing the next morning; there was nothing to do tonight. As I packed up our things to get ready to head home, Wesley decided to 'eat it' and got a fat lip too.

The next day we went to the dentist first thing in the morning. The x-rays showed no nerve damage and the loose tooth had solidified. The dentist said that Anj should have a soft diet for the next few days and that there was also about a 50% chance that her teeth would turn gray/black. (the good: its her baby teeth, the bad: its her front teeth and its going to be 4 years or so until she loses them) Since it was Tuesday, and we were already down on Costa Mesa, we headed down to the beach to play with our friends. Other than eating things awkwardly on the side of her mouth, Anj acted normal. Everyone had fun at the beach.
That Anjali, she's one tough babe!
