Last Day of School!

This school year went by so fast! I took the little kids with me to Lacy's class party. Mrs. Mindy saw how much Anjali wanted to be with the big kids, so she was kind enough to pull up a chair for her. Both girls feasted on snacks galore!

Wesley had his restraints on--I just don't trust that kid...

They passed out certificates and Mrs. Mindy gave each of her students a gift. (The girls got a Disney princess sand pail and shovel. The boys got a Spiderman water shooter.)

I wanted to make the day special for Lacy, so I asked her if there was anything fun she'd like to do to celebrate her last day of school. Lacy's choice was getting Chick-Fil-A for lunch and going to the drive-thru car wash. (It's the simple things in life!)
Here we are about to pull into the carwash.

Eating their chicken nuggets and enjoying the show.

Wesley doesn't know what to think.

That evening the preschool put on a "Promotion Ceremony" (yes folks, that's the politically correct term for graduation). Lacy had been singing her song around the house and in the car for a couple weeks before the ceremony. It was nice to hear it with music--the song made a whole lot more sense.

After they sang, the kids received medals.

The school did an ice cream social after the ceremony. The line was really long! We ran in to get one final picture with Mrs. Mindy (and drop off a baby gift, she's expecting her first girl!) and then had our own ice cream social with a few friends at the McDonalds down the street.

Here's a class picture from a few days earlier at Mrs. Mindy's baby shower. They were a cute class!

Deadbeat Mom ruins first birthday!

Since we already did the big party thing we planned only to do a cake for Wesley's birthday--the traditional 1-year-old makes a huge mess eating cake. Wesley's birthday fell on a Sunday (we don't shop on Sundays), after I came home from church I got my funfetti cake mix out and preheated the oven. I went to the fridge to grab the eggs...only to discover that I was out of eggs! What kind of mother doesn't have cake for her only son's first ever birthday cake?! In a panic, we called our cousins and asked them if they would save us and bake a cake. We told them to hold the frosting (we would bring our own non-dairy frosting per Wesley's allergy).
Here's our festive birthday cake!

Here's Wes getting sung to and blowing out his candle.

Now let's see if he likes the cake!

Ehh...not so much...

but it sure is fun to play with!

This is his "yucky food" face. ("Please, no more!")

Wesley's Big Party!

My Wesley-boy is 1 year old! We had a big party just for our special boy!
The theme was...Cookie Monster

Do you kinda see it here?

Our tradition for first birthdays is Korean BBQ at the park with family and a few friends.
We tried to keep the kids entertained by many means.
1.) We decorated cookies (get it? because the theme was Cookie Monster? get it? get it now?)

2.) We played at the newly renovated playground. (Isn't he so sweet?! He loves the swings!)

3.) Pinata!

(Cliff got a little excited dumping the candy and as a result there were a few pinata casualties...don't worry kids, from this day forward, Cliff has been permanently relieved of all Pinata duties.)

4.) We ate cake!

Here's the traditional Korean Rice Cake

This is Wesley's Non-Dairy Birthday Cake. (Poor kid has no idea of what he's missing out on!)

We entertained the grown-ups by letting them all take turns holding this cutie-pie!

Can you believe that near the end of the party, this scrumptious little boy had a mild fever and began acting grumpy?! (It was teething--he cut his first molar.)

Oh my, this year has gone by too fast! Where'd my baby go?!

Bikeathon

Lacy's school had a bikeathon fundraiser. Lacy got a new bike just for the occasion. (We've been thinking about getting one for a while, the bikeathon just pressured us to jump on it.)

She's pretty slow--but it was so cute!

Here she is helping her buddy get ready before the start. (She TOTALLY gets how important it is to have good girlfriends!)

A refreshing treat for all of her hard work :D
